Students enrolling in this program should be competent in HTML, Dreamweaver, either Photoshop or Fireworks and CSS design. Once enrolled in the program, you will build on your basic knowledge and skills and complete a total of four Web design portfolio projects under the supervision of our highly skilled instructors.

The Web design degree program is a two-year, fully accredited, 72-credit degree program consisting of six 15-week semesters. Semesters commence every January, May and September and financial aid is available.

 First year curriculum consists of basic design courses including composition, drawing, color theory and digital photography as well as Web-specific instruction in XHTML, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and CSS.

Once you’ve mastered the basics, you’ll delve into more Web-centric training in Adobe Fireworks and Flash as well as Dreamweaver along with advanced training in animation, copywriting and online marketing.

 The Web design degree curriculum also includes 18-credit hours of general education courses designed to help students develop their critical thinking and communications skills as well as provide a strong foundation related areas including art history, business, computer technology and psychology.

  • Create simple, stylized logos, icons, and illustrations in Illustrator.
  • Manipulate framing, perspective, distance, and lighting to take professional-level digital photographs in a range of settings.
  • Create consistent, engaging, and readable layouts in InDesign for multi-page print publications.
  • Create consistent, visually appealing page designs using XHTML and CSS via Dreamweaver or via hand coding.
  • Design Web graphics that are polished, consistent, and optimized, which communicate effectively and are integrated into an interface design.
  • Design basic Flash illustrations, images, animations, and interfaces for the Web.
  • Manage a professional Web design process including competitive research, mood boards, site maps and wireframes, color design and imagery, CSS layouts, and basic usability testing.
  • Create Flash Web sites that show a proficiency in the use of digital assets, animations, interface design, and usability.
  • Apply in their work an understanding of English composition, business writing, psychology, computer science, marketing and art history.
  • Write papers and presentations that demonstrate critical thinking, clear organization, and professional style, grammar, and spelling.
  • Represent their design services to potential clients or employers and manage different aspects of the Web design process.
