The Fitness Business Management online programme from Gatlin International is a certificate programme (with an Optional Field Internship course) designed to instruct students in the management of a Personal Training Program and/or a Health-Fitness Department as a Strategic Business Unit (S.B.U.) in commercial and non-commercial facilities. Our fitness business course was created with the goal of establishing an industry standard in fitness management education for professionals in the health and fitness field including personal trainers, fitness managers, and entrepreneurs wishing to establish a successful health fitness operation. The Gatlin International Fitness Business Management course prepares participants to successfully implement a fitness business management strategy in a variety of settings including private and commercial health clubs, medically-based health and fitness facilities, community wellness centers, personal training facilities, physical therapy clinics, YMCA’s, JCC’s, college and university centers, recreational facilities and corporate health and fitness centers. Our fitness business course offers the competitive advantage of an optional field internship which provides the opportunity for students to practice fitness management concepts in a real world health fitness setting. The fitness business managment program is offered in partnership with IDEA Health & Fitness Association and Health Club Managers, Inc. IDEA provides current, up to date curriculum in the program and students in our fitness business management course receive a complimentary six-month membership to the online edition of IDEA Fitness Journal. Health Club Managers, a Health Club Staffing and Management Training company, provides successful, certified students with preferred discounts on their services.
The fitness business management certificate program includes:
? Examination of the planning process for starting a new fitness venture
? Review common approaches to developing strategic business plans for specific types of health and fitness-related facilities
? Introduction to financial and managerial accounting concepts for fitness concerns
? Exploration of how successful marketing and branding influences a company’s business strategy
? Examination of the organization and administration of both for profit and not-for-profit health and fitness facilities
? Optional Field Internship Course: Participants may complete an optional six-week / 60 hour internship course
? Your instructors will provide on-going guidance, instruction, and interaction and our instructors include distinguished educators who hold a Master’s, MBA, or Ph.D. degree in the fields of business administration, finance, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or an exercise science-related degree.

- There are no specific prerequisites to enter the fitness business management course other than an Internet connection, an email address, and basic computer knowledge. Students are required to have CPR certification and approval by the Program Coordinator prior to beginning the Optional Field Internship Elective Course.

- The fitness business course can be taken from either a the Mac or Windows operating system. Technical requirements include but are not limited to having internet access with a 56K modem, but it is highly recommended that you have DSL or High Speed Cable Internet Access; 64 MB system RAM; 200 MB free hard disk space memory or sufficient storage; reliable email account access, CD-ROM/DVD capabilities, and a reliable Internet provider. Some individual courses may have additional software and/or hardware requirements.
