Logistics, Supply Chain and Purchasing Management Online Traingin Program
The Logistics, Supply Chain, and Purchasing Management online program is for anyone working in or interested in working in purchasing, supply chain management, logistics, or procurement. The program will introduce you to the basics of the supply chain process, management, purchasing, and contracting issues.
Essentials of Purchasing
In this module the student will learn the fundamentals of the purchasing function in the context of efficiency and organization. Topics such as the administrative aspects of purchasing, purchasing methodologies, and optimization strategies are explored.
The Supply Chain Process
In this module students are introduced to the various aspects of the supply chain environment including enterprise resource planning systems and requirement systems. The interrelationships between purchasing, vendor selection, sources of supply, and the role of technology are also explored in this course so that a student understands the integrated approach to planning, acquisition, flow, and distribution from raw materials to finished products.
Budgeting Essentials
In this module you are introduced to the fundamentals of the budgeting process including understanding not only how to prepare a budget but how to manage a budget within the context of a hierarchical organizational structure. You will be exposed to the various components of a budget and how they work together as well as how to prepare, organize, and structure your budget using basic financial statements.
The Procurement Process
In this module students will be introduced to principles that guide how suppliers are selected to provide goods and services through the various phases of the procurement process. This is an excellent module to gain an understanding of RFPs, responses, and contract bid work.
Supplier Contracting
This module explores the contracting process and provides an understanding of the source of supply (i.e., purchase orders, contracts, etc.) and explores decision-making in supplier contracting. This module provides a foundation in contracting issues.
Price and Cost Analysis
In this module students will learn various techniques associated with evaluating pricing and costing including methodologies and techniques to improve profitability and minimize losses. Different price comparison methods as well as strategic cost analysis are explored in this module.

Katherine Squires Pang, J.D., LL.M., M.Ed received her B.A. in 1980 from Clark University, her J.D. from the University of Dayton Law School in 1982, her LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University Law School in 1983, and her M.Ed from the University of Texas in 2001. She has practiced law with national law firms since 1983, ran for the United States Senate in California in 1994, and was appointed by Governor Wilson as a Commissioner to the WCAB from 1994 to 1996. Dr. Pang has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Management at the University of Texas, Dallas, and has been an adjunct faculty member in the law and business schools of many universities, including the Stern School of Business at New York University, Pepperdine University, USC, Golden Gate University, and the University of California, Irvine.
Rose Roberts has 20 years of experience helping organizations develop purchasing strategies and implement process improvements. Through her leadership and coaching, Rose has helped purchasing departments and executive teams recognize the value of formulating strategies, employing methodologies, and measuring results. She has broad experience working with OEM's in a variety of industries, both foreign and domestic. Supplier selection and qualification, global sourcing strategies, cost reduction techniques, cross-functional development, and utilization of metrics have been key focus areas, allowing organizations she’s worked with earn world-class distinction
- Prerequisites/Audience
There are no specific prerequisites for the purchasing and supply chain management training course. However, basic computer skills, the ability to navigate the Internet, and an email account are all required.
This program is intended for anyone currently working in, or planning on working in, procurement management, supply management, a purchasing department, or any other area involved with procurement and/or supply.- Requirements/Materials Included
This course must be taken from a PC. There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection (Broadband Internet connection is highly recommended). In addition you will need to have Internet Explorer, Adobe Reader, Flash Plug-in and a QuickTime plug-in on your computer (all available through free downloads).
